This Can't Be A Good Sign For 'Touch'

Kiefer Sutherland may be leaving "Touch" behind or the network may be giving up on the sophomore drama.

According to Entertainment Weekly, NBC has offered Sutherland a starring role on "The Blacklist" pilot, which follows a master criminal as he agrees to turn in everyone he's ever worked with. The pilot comes from "Perfect Stranger" screenwriter Jon Bokenkamp and "Alias" veteran John Eisendrath will serve as showrunner should "The Blacklist" picked up.

EW reports that Sutherland's been offered the role of said mastermind. But, of course, there's a catch: According to The Wrap, Sutherland's criminal will only work with a "newly-minted FBI agent with whom he seemingly has no connection." That role has not yet been cast.

"It's a second position offer, since no decision has been made on the future of the Sutherland starrer 'Touch,'" EW reports.

"Touch" Season 2 had a rough go of it before even premiering. Season 2 was originally scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 26, but the premiere was pushed back to February 8 and "Touch" has not performed well in its new Friday night timeslot. "Touch" Season 2 debuted to 3.9 million total viewers and a 1.1 in the key 18-49 demo, but dropped to 2.5 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in its most recent airing on February 22.

Though things don't look good for "Touch," Sutherland may not be looking to head back to TV so soon, considering what he's previously told the press

"I hadn't planned on doing another show as quickly as I did," Sutherland told The Hollywood Reporter at an Emmys roundtable discussion of landing the title role in "Touch." "'24' was the first time I had a real job. It was the first time in my life where every three months I wasn't panicked to death about how I was going to feed my kids."
