Reese Witherspoon Bounces Back From Arrest With 'Passengers' & 'Depth Of Field'
May 3rd 2013, 14:01

The past few weeks have undoubtedly been a bit difficult for Reese Witherspoon. She's never been known to get in any legal troubles, but she most recently had to appear in court after getting arrested for disorderly conduct while her husband was pulled over for a DUI. An embarrassing situation for anyone, even worse when there's video of the entire situation (see below). So what does one do to get past a situation like that? You get back to work. And that's exactly what Witherspoon plans on doing.

First up, Witherspoon's in talks to star alongside Keanu Reeves in the sci-fi romance "Passengers" with Brian Kirk ("Game of Thrones") at the helm. "Passengers" tells the story of a starship which is transporting human cargo to a colony when a malfunction occurs. One of the passengers (Reeves) winds up being prematurely thawed nearly a century before everyone else. Not wanting to be alone, he decides to wake up a female passenger, who would be played by Witherspoon. Production is being planned to take place in Montreal.

Witherspoon is also set to star in "Depth of Field," an Americanized adaptation of "Get Her Off the Pitch," a bestselling memoir from Times of London cultural critic Lynne Truss. Fox 2000 acquired the script, which was penned by J. Mills Goodloe. The memoir is based on Truss' experiences, which started when her editor made her cover the World Cup. Truss, whose interest in sports was minimal, wound up covering major sporting events for four years throughout Europe and America much to the amusement of her readers. She eventually finds herself becoming enamored with sports and sports culture over time. Goodloe changed the story to give it a more American sensibility (so like "Fever Pitch" when they changed it from soccer to baseball).

As you can see, Reese Witherspoon is having no problems bouncing back from her little mishap down in Georgia. In the meantime, you can catch her in "Mud" with Matthew McConaughey, currently in theaters. [THR/
