The trio behind Focus Features’ The World’s End said today that just because they have finished up their decidedly English trilogy — the pic, along with 2004′s Shaun Of The Dead and 2007′s Hot Fuzz they call the Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy — they plan to work together again. “We can make (future films) about anything we want,” Simon Pegg said today during the Hall H panel for for the comedy at Comic-Con. He then jokingly hinted at a period drama as their next project. Die-hard fans of Spaced, the UK sitcom that launched the trio’s career, might be disappointed though: the trio ruled out a return of that series. The panel, which didn’t reveal anything new about the film that opens August 23, provided plenty of laughs and back-and-forth mash notes between Pegg, co-star Nick Frost and director Edgar Wright and their legions of fans, some of which had been in line outside the cavernous hall since last night. The threesome didn’t disappoint after the latest trailer and a featurette was shown to the assembled, talking about their long creative partnership. “When we made Shaun Of The Dead we were just happy to have made a film full stop — we didn’t even think it would go to other countries,” Wright said, adding that he was glad their success has made it possible to make distinctly British films instead of having to Americanize their movies.
