Whatever you think of the show itself, it's tough to argue that American Horror Story doesn't have one of the best marketing campaigns in recent memory. The creep factor for American Horror Story: Coven has been high as we've seen teaser posters, videos, trailers, and images, and now co-creator Ryan Murphy has unveiled the third season's opening credits. Unsurprisingly, the credits feature a great deal of odd and disturbing imagery, with the focus being on witchcraft, voodoo, and spooky shrouds. The series stars Jessica Lange, Taissa Farmiga, Emma Roberts, Denis O'Hare, Alexandra Breckenridge, Patti LuPone, Gabourey Sidibe, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, and Lily Rabe. American Horror Story: Coven airs on FX starting Wednesday, October 9th at 10pm. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.
