'Inglourious Basterds' Hitler Pitching Saudi-Owned TV Network's Fall Lineup
Sep 22nd 2013, 00:09, by THE DEADLINE TEAM

A Saudi-owned satellite TV network has an attention-getting new pitchman: the most despised person of the 20th century. Dubai-based MBC Action is running clips from the 2009 film Inglourious Basterds that feature Adolf Hitler ranting to some Nazi officers. Arabic subtitles reveal that the Führer isn't discussing battle plans or Mein Kampf but rather the network's fall movie lineup. "Look at the achievements of MBC Action," the Quentin Tarantino-created version of Hitler says. "They will control the entire region. They are preparing for a campaign called 'September to Remember.'" The Anti-Defamation League doesn't exactly consider it Must-See TV. "This offensive and outrageous campaign trivializes the Holocaust by turning Hitler into a cartoonish poster child," ADL National Director Abraham Foxman said at a news conference. "Perhaps someone thought all of this was funny, but one wonders how it will play across the Arab World, where there is scant education about the murder of 6 million Jews and millions of others by Hitler and the Nazis and where Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism are rampant." The group is calling for the immediate removal of the ad.
