Is Jason Statham the latest burly star to join Universal's "Fast and Furious" franchise? That's the rumor from Ain't It Cool News, which reports that Statham may have shot a cameo for "Fast and Furious 6," which would set him up as the villain in "Fast and Furious 7."
The franchise has had luck with cameos: Original star Vin Diesel was brought back into the fold after appearing at the end of "Fast and Furious: Toyko Drift," while Michelle Rodriguez, who appears in "Fast and Furious 6," showed up at the end of 'Fast Five" -- this despite her character's death in "Fast and Furious."
According to Ain't It Cool, Statham's cameo will happen at the end of "Fast Six" and set him up as the antagonist in "Fast and Furious 7." (There's a "Fast and Furious 7," p.s.)
This isn't the first time Statham has been attached to "Fast and Furious." Back in 2011, he was rumored to star in "Fast and Furious 6," but he turned down the role.
HuffPost Entertainment reached out to Universal for comment; at press time, the studio had not responded.
