Well, hell... As if lining up Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Zach Galifianakis and Edward Norton wasn't enough, the cast for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's comedy "Birdman" just keeps getting better and better.
The latest addition is two-time BAFTA nominee Andrea Riseborough. While not as A-list as the rest of the cast, she's got an impressive resume behind her, thanks to "Never Let Me Go," "Brighton Rock," "W.E.," "Made In Dagenham" and "Shadow Dancer" and next month, she makes her blockbuster debut opposite His Cruiseness in "Oblivion." So yeah, Riseborough is a name that's about to become a lot more familiar.
Based on a Raymond Chandler short story, "Birdman" centers on a former actor, played by Keaton, who once played an iconic superhero and mounts a Broadway play in a bid to reclaim his past glories. But his efforts to return to the spotlight are threatened by the egotistical leading actor of the play, set to be played by Norton, with whom Keaton's character butts heads. Stone will play Keaton's recently rehabbed daughter and assistant. Galifianakis takes the role of the play's producer, with Watts as one of the actresses. Riseborough will take the role of Laura, and that's all we know.
Fox Searchlight has it, shooting starts in April and damn if this isn't already on our 2014 list of anticipated films. [Deadline]
