UPDATE: NBC has canceled the musical series "Smash" after two seasons.
The series, a favored project of NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, got off to a promising start with its first season, when it piggybacked on NBC's hit singing competition "The Voice." The second season, however, was another story. Following the departure of series creator Theresa Rebeck, and a major cast shakeup that saw departures and the addition of a slew of regular and guest cast members, the show faltered upon its return, and was recently moved to Saturday nights.
