While the long-awaited sequel to one new comedy classic is finally poised to hit theaters this December with Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, another highly anticipated follow-up is also finally moving forward. After a year or so of stops and starts regarding a sequel to Dumb and Dumber, it was announced last night that Dumb and Dumber To has secured financing and distribution at last, with production looking to get underway as early as this fall. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels both reprise their roles from the 1994 film, and writers/directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly are back as well. Though the Farrelly brothers previously teased a few plot details regarding the follow-up, Peter Farrelly went on the Nerdist podcast and talked a bit more extensively about what Dumb and Dumber To entails, also addressing how difficult it has been to get this thing made. Moreover, he revealed that the film will likely hit theaters next summer. Hit the jump to read on. Just over a week ago, we learned that Warner Bros. had opted not to move forward with the Dumb and Dumber sequel, with the Farrelly Brothers planning to shop the project elsewhere.
