Video games and fairy tales -- yep, it's just another day in Hollywood, so let's get into the mix of this...
First up, "Tomb Raider" is getting a fresh coat of paint now that console game has been refreshed and the Angelina Jolie movies have faded into memory. Back in 2011, "Iron Man" writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby were tasked with penning the reboot, but it seems GK Films want another take. So, they've hired "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Fright Night" writer Marti Noxon to take a stab at it. No story details yet, but we're pretty sure it will involve archaeology, running and jumping.
Meanwhile, Joe Wright's brewing "The Little Mermaid" is getting a new pen too. Abi Morgan ("Shame") was the first one involved in getting a draft together, and now Kelly Marcel has been hired to pen the script. We can only surmise that Marcel and Wright crossed paths when he was rumored to direct "Fifty Shades Of Grey," which she's writing the script for, but it's not clear where this project fits next for the director. He's got a couple other options with adaptations of Neil Gaiman's "The Ocean At The End Of The World" and "The Secret Life Of Houdini" also brewing. [Variety/Deadline]
