Watch the Violent Animated Short Prequel for Bong Joon-ho's

Bong Joon-ho's upcoming thriller Snowpiercer takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where the eponymous train travels through an ice age.  An animated prequel short has been released explaining how the world came to the ice because of a disasterous attempt to end global warming through the use of a specialized rocket.  If you can get past the sillier moments of the short (namely, an unseen news reporter yelling, "Good-bye, global warming!"), you'll see a violent turn of events as people fight to get on the train.  The character "Yona", who is played in the film by Ko Asung, narrates the short.  Snowpiercer picks up with the train divided into classes with the underclass planning to stage an uprising against the upper class.  I'm curious to see if Bong's film is as violent the short. Hit the jump to check out the video.  The live-action feature also stars Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer, and Kang-ho Song.  Snowpiercer opens in South Korean on August 1st.  No U.S. release date has been announced.
