After 14 years as Artistic Director and Founding Curator of BAMcinématek, Florence Almozini is stepping down. In an email sent on Tuesday, Almozini said:
"I am writing to you to let you know that, after 14 years, I am leaving my job as BAMcinématek Program Director and moving on to a new exciting chapter in my career. Effective Monday, July 8th, I will be joining the French Embassy, Cultural Services, NYC.
During these last 14 years, I have always felt incredibly lucky to launch and program BAMcinématek and BAMcinemaFest. And to get to meet all of you! So, a huge thank you to all of you for having made my work possible and enjoyable."
Almozini was a major contributor to raising the profile of Brooklyn's cinema culture. She brought forth the now 5-year old BAMcinemaFest and helped the year-round BAMcinématek prosper.
