Psych fans will really have something to sing about on Sunday, Dec. 15.
That’s the day that the USA Network comedy’s long-awaited musical episode will premiere, as announced Thursday at Comic-Con.
The two-hour, song-and-dance extravaganza will find Shawn and Gus hunting for a criminally insane playwright named Z (played by Rent‘s Anthony Rapp) who once burned a theater to the ground, with a critic trapped inside.

To get a lead on the psycho Shakespeare, the guys will have to deal with (per the network) “a dangerous and familiar” villain from Shawn’s past who doles out clues in a very cryptic fashion.
In other news, the upcoming eighth (and likely final) season also will include a new episode with a storyline determined by fan vote. Star James Roday will direct that outing, titled “A Nightmare on State Street,” in which an exhausted Gus undergoes dream therapy to understand the cause of his night terrors. But when he’s done with the treatment, everything’s a little… off.
