On the heels of casting The Killing‘s Billy Campbell as its male lead, Syfy’s new Helix series — from Battlestar boss Ronald D. Moore — has filled a few other roles.
Hiroyuki Sanada (Revenge) will play Hiroshi Hitaki, the mastermind behind the arctic-based CDC research facility trying to manage a global outbreak, it was announced at Comic-Con, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Also, Smallville Kandorian Kyra Zagorsky has been cast as the cheating, estranged wife of Campbell’s character, while Mark Ghanime (Emily Owens M.D.) will play Balleseros, the U.S. military’s secret agenda-keeping liaison to the CDC.

* BET will air two 14-hour Scandal marathons on Saturday, Aug. 10 (beginning with the pilot) and Saturday, Aug. 17, each starting at 8 am, says The Hollywood Reporter. Then on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 9 pm, the cabler will wrap up the drama’s run-to-date with the final two episodes of Season 2. The ABC sudser returns with new episodes on Thursday, Oct. 3.
