“Attack the Block” helmer Joe Cornish is inching closer to snaring a ticket into space.
Deadline says the filmmaker is being courted to replace JJ Abrams – who’ll be busy with a certain other spacey franchise – on “Star Trek III : The Search for Originality”.
Abrams remains on as a producer, but his commitments to Jabba the Hut mean he’ll be unable to steer the enterprise this time ’round.
Interestingly enough, Cornish directed “Star Trek” star Simon Pegg’s regular cohort Nick Frost in the abovesaid “Attack the Block”. He also co-wrote “Ant Man”, the movie Pegg’s bud Edgar Wright is helming for Marvel.
More on this as it comes to hand..
