Ron Perlman Talks Developing His Own Character, Practical Effects vs. CG, His Relationship with Guillermo del Toro, & More on the Set of PACIFIC RIM

If you're searching for the brain, heart, bones, or any of the vital organs from a freshly killed Kaiju, you would end up making a deal with Hannibal Chow (Ron Perlman).  The reason is he's got the exclusive contract on the fallen monsters after the Jaegers kill the beasts in battle.  And from what I saw when I visited the set of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim last year, business is booming. During a break in filming, I got to participate in a group interview with Ron Perlman.  He talked about his character, the way he talks and looks, getting cast, collaborating with del Toro, the practical sets, and so much more.  Hit the jump for what he had to say. Question: Did you have to be in Sons of Anarchy to get this job? RON PERLMAN: Yes. Because there's a few of you... PERLMAN: It seems as though everything works for a reason, so I'll just say "yes" to everything… as long as it's a yes or no question. You obviously have a great relationship with Guillermo [del Toro]. Talk a little bit about when he presented you with this project and asked you to be involved. PERLMAN: I'm not exactly sure of the sequence of events with regard to this. But I actually think this character was designed to be played by another ethnicity other than myself.
