Dakota Fanning To Star In Helmer Gerardo Naranjo's First English-Language Pic
Nov 16th 2013, 02:28, by THE DEADLINE TEAM

EXCLUSIVE: Here’s another solid deal coming out of the in-progress Baja International Film Festival, where executives and agents are doing business at Las Ventanas Hotel in Los Cabos. For this one, Dakota Fanning has been attached to star in Gerardo Naranjo's untitled coming-of-age story, which he will direct from his screenplay. Alex Orlovsky and Hunter Gray will produce and co-finance through their Verisimilitude production banner; this reteams the pair with Naranjo after the trio collaborated on the helmer’s Voy A Explotar. The new movie, Naranjo’s English-language debut, is set to begin filming in February. It centers on Viena (Fanning), a roadie, on a journey of self-discovery and survival as part of a punk band’s convoy, traveling through America circa the 1980s. CAA, which reps Naranjo, arranged financing and will rep the film's domestic distribution rights.

Verisimilitude’s past credits include Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond The Pines and Blue Valentine and Mike Cahill’s Another Earth, and its upcoming projects include Cahill’s follow-up I Origins and Carter Smith’s Jamie Marks Is Dead.

Fanning is repped by WME and Echo Lake Entertainment.
