'Sean Saves the World' Gets 5 More Episodes From NBC
Nov 9th 2013, 01:00, by Jethro Nededog

Don’t count Sean Hayes out, yet.

NBC has ordered five more episodes from the “Will & Grace” alum’s freshman comedy, “Sean Saves the World,” a show representative told TheWrap.

The episode order arrives the day after the comedy hit its season-high ratings on Thursday. After a “Voice” lead-in, "Sean Saves the World" earned a 1.4 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. It also set a new high in total viewers with 4.6 million.

Earlier this week, the network ordered four scripts from the show, according to an individual with knowledge of the situation. So, the rise in ratings probably gave NBC the courage to order the additional episodes.

"Sean Saves the World" is one of the lowest-rated comedies on broadcast television. But, NBC has a great relationship with its star. Hayes is an executive producer on “Grimm” and "Hollywood Game Night.”

Despite the good relationship (or maybe because of it), Sean Hayes recently blamed his show’s low ratings on NBC’s inability to bring in viewers. That would actually be a wrong statement, though, since NBC is currently leading with the key 18-49 demo this season.

NBC recently cancelled one of its two other new comedies, “Welcome to the Family.” And the “Michael J. Fox Show” came into this season with a full 22-episode order.
