Among the many filmmakers and actors packing their bags for Cannes this year is James Franco, because nary a festival can go by with something by the multitasking polymath being in the mix. And this year, the south of France will be getting his adaptation of William Faulkner's "As I Lay Dying," which looks to be a bit more than just an art goof by Daniel Desario.
Some solid talent has come to help tell the tale with Danny McBride and Tim Blake Nelson along for the ride, whom you can see pictured here, along with "True Blood" thesp Jim Parrack, Ahna O'Reilly and Logan Marshall-Green. The big question remains how Franco has managed to wrangle a narrative that involves 15 different characters, and with an initial script that ran 160 pages being brought down to a two hour movie, we have to admit we're curious. Could this be Franco's next significant step as a filmmaker? We'll find out soon enough.
The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 15-26.
