When "Man of Steel" was first announced, one of the big question marks was how a new composer would escape from the long shadow cast by John Williams' classic score for the Richard Donner-helmed film. If the roughly ten minutes of score we've heard so far are any indication, Hans Zimmer is doing a great job at creating something as heroic as the iconic theme yet as propulsive and moody as his top-notch work for Christopher Nolan. Thirty more seconds from Zimmer's score has arrived online along with a new banner.
First up, a short 30-second-long clip of the track "Ignition" has landed online and it's pretty Zimmer-y. All propulsive percussion with the brass he's famous for and some moody electronics thrown in for good measure -- left over from his work on "The Dark Knight Rises" perhaps?
While Warner Bros. has thus far taken a slow-and-steady approach to the marketing, with that release a little more than a month away the studio is making damn sure you know where you'll be next month. Another banner has made its way online and it's a simple, yet effective, image of Superman flying toward the heavens.
Can Zack Snyder deliver the goods? We'll find out when "Man of Steel" flies into theatres on June 14th. Listen to the clip from the score below along with a look at the banner.
