They say truth is stranger than fiction, and while the story that unspools here isn't quite strange, it's certainly something that no writer could have dreamed up. On the surface, Polley's film is an investigation into her own family secrets (to say any more would ruin things a bit), but "Stories We Tell" also dips into the fictions and non-fictions that tie the bonds between parents, siblings and more.
