Hey guys! Horrorella here...
A bit of casting news for you today. Christian Bale may not be scaling EVEREST any time soon, but there are still plenty of good names currently in talks to join the project. The survival thriller, to be directed by Baltasar Kormakur (CONTRABAND and the upcoming 2 GUNS), will tell the true story of a massive blizzard that hit Everest in 1996, disrupting multiple climbing expeditions and leaving 8 people dead.
Presently, Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke and John Hawkes are all negotiating for various roles in the film, according to THR. The film will follow two different expedition groups as they face the elements - one led by Jason Clarke's character (the role Bale had initially been circling) and the other led by Jake Gyllenhaal. Josh Brolin's character is said to be a doctor (always good to have) and Hawkes's character is said to be a bit of a slower climber, and is responsible for one of the groups getting a late start up the mountain.
The film promises to be a tense journey just based on the story alone, but the possibility of these actors carrying the film is even more exciting.
EVEREST is set to being filming in Iceland this fall.
