Allen & Co.'s Sun Valley Media Mogul Guest List Includes Zuckerberg, Iger, Gates, Diller, Hastings
Jul 3rd 2013, 17:54, by Anne Thompson and Ryan Lattanzio

Allen & Co.'s annual Sun Valley Conference, now in its 31st year, kicks off later this month. It's a mogul summer camp where the world's power players gather to talk shop, dress casual and rub elbows in the splendor of Idaho summer. Among those on the creme-de-la-creme guest list are tech moguls Bill Gates, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and bestselling author Sheryl Sandberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Reed Hastings of Netflix and IAC's Barry Diller.

Entertainment media attendees include Disney's Bob Iger, News Corp.'s Rupert Murdoch, Jeff Bewkes of Time Warner, Viacom chief Philippe Dauman, Legendary's Thomas Tull (currently figuring out his post-Warner Bros. strategy), Imagine's Brian Grazer, DreamWorks Animation's Jeffrey Katzenberg, Universal's Ron Meyer, and CAA's Bryan Lourd.

On the political side, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and Newark mayor Cory Booker will join at this intersect of media and politics in which, historically, major deals have been brokered including Comcast's purchase of NBC Universal, Michael Eisner's Disney buy of ABC, and Zuckerberg's $100 million donation to Newark schools in the wake of "The Social Network."

Herb Allen plays genial host at his estate in the northwestern resort city; his firm is also bringing new key players into the mix such as Ynon Kreiz of the Multi Channel network Maker Studios and Mark Pincus from the online social gaming platform Zynga.
