A while ago we saw half the trailer for Kill Your Darlings, the minor Sundance hit in which Daniel Radcliffe plays a young Allen Ginsberg. The film charts the ways in which Ginsberg, newly arrived at school, falls into friendship with the seductive Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan) and how their circle of friends — the nucleus of the Beat movement — was broken when one of them ended up dead.
Now we’ve got the full trailer, as well as a clip from the film. The trailer is half manic Beat energy, and then the second half becomes something a little more ominous. You’ll also see glimpses of some of the excellent supporting cast, which includes Jack Huston, Michael C. Hall, Ben Foster, David Cross, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Elizabeth Olsen, Kyra Sedgwick and John Cullum.
Here’s the clip, a vulgar but comic scene, in which Ginsberg sees Carr, and pretty much falls for him on the spot.
Kill Your Darlings opens on October 18.
In this dynamic portrait of the early days of the Beat Generation, a young Allen Ginsberg (Daniel Radcliffe) and William S. Burroughs (Ben Foster) become embroiled in the notorious 1944 murder of Burroughs' childhood friend David Kammerer by the object of his affection, the Rimbaudian Beat muse Lucien Carr.
