Toronto: Eli Roth's Cannibal Movie 'The Green Inferno' Gobbled Up by Open Road

Open Road Films has acquired Eli Roth’s horror movie “The Green Inferno” and plans to give the film a wide release, an individual familiar with the dealmaking process has told TheWrap.

Story follows a group of student activists from New York as they attempt to stage a protest in the jungles of Peru, where they encounter a tribe of cannibals.

Worldview Entertainment financed and the film, which was produced by its principals Molly Conners and Christopher Woodrow.

“Green Inferno” is the first film Roth has directed since “Hostel 2″ in 2007. The movie debuted in the Midnight Madness section at Toronto.
