NBC Cancels Summer Series 'Camp'
Oct 2nd 2013, 00:44, by Jethro Nededog

NBC isn’t into “Camp.”

The broadcaster canceled the drama series created by Liz Heldens ("Friday Night Lights") and Peter Elkoff ("Gossip Girl") and starring Rachel Griffiths (“Brothers & Sisters,” "Six Feet Under").

Cast member Nikolai Nikolaeff broke the news on Twitter on Tuesday.

“So… It was a great summer and I loved every minute of it,” he wrote. “Sorry to all the @NBCCamp fans out there but no go on #CampSeason2. #upsetting.”

Griffiths starred as a divorced camp director looking for a fresh start. The series explored the campers and counselors at Little Otter Family Camp, where summer memories are made.

Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein served as executive producers with Heldens and Elkoff. It was co-produced by Matchbox Pictures and BermanBraun.

Part of a trend in which networks presented new series year-round, “Camp” was an inexpensive scripted drama shot in Australia with a predominately Aussie cast.

NBC only aired 10 of the 13 episodes it ordered. “Camp” premiered in July to 5 million viewers. By it’s finale on Sept. 11, the audience shrunk to 3.22 million people.
