'X Factor' Gives Fans the Unofficial, Non-Voting Position of Fifth Judge

“The X Factor” will now allow the judges to look at viewer opinions while they’re making their decisions.

Starting with Tuesday’s first live episode, viewers can use a set of hashtags to answer questions during the broadcast. Their answers will be tabulated and the results shown on-stage so that the judges can see what the audience is thinking.

This week, the judges have to each send home one act. And, who knows, they might look to the poll results to help them make their decision…

The series will be airing a repeat on Wednesday and return on Thursday due to baseball World Series.
