Australian Actress Rachel Griffiths will portray the nation's first female prime-minister in a feature-length telemovie drama.
The project, produced for WTFN, is to be based on Kerry-Anne Walsh's book 'The Stalking of Julia Gillard.'
According to WTFN, Walsh's book "tells the story of the media's obsession with the fall and resurrection of Kevin Rudd at Julia Gillard's expense."
Led by Richard Keddie, the drama will be brought to us by the producers of Channel Ten's 'Hawke' and the ABC's Logie-winning 'Curtain', while, at this stage, no broadcaster is attached to the project.
Earlier, Griffiths spoke to TV Tonight:
"I am thrilled to portray Australia's first female prime minister and explore the private aspects of her remarkable term," Griffiths said. "I believe that the creative and intellectual capacity of the team involved will produce a stunning drama that will reframe this historic period in our cultural and political life."
