Exclusive: Daniel Brühl to Star in Michael Winterbottom's THE FACE OF AN ANGEL Based on Amanda Knox Murder Trial

Director Michael Winterbottom's The Face of an Angel, a project bringing the events surrounding Amanda Knox's murder trial to the big screen, has landed Daniel Brühl in the film's lead.  Steve landed the scoop earlier today at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival while speaking to Brühl for his work in Bill Condon's The Fifth Estate.   You can read Matt's review on that film here. Back on the topic of The Face of an Angel, Paul Viragh (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) adapted the novel Angel Face: Sex, Murder and the Inside Story of Amanda Knox by Barbie Latza Nadeau.  When last we reported on this film, Colin Firth was involved in its development.  Rather than focusing on Knox specifically, Winterbottom previously said, "I have no view on whether they did it, the film will not be about that. There is unlikely to be a character playing Knox.  I talked to Firth about the idea of playing a journalist or a writer."  It sounds as if Brühl will now be taking on that role.  Hit the jump for more.
