Alex Kurtzman And Roberto Orci Sell SAGITTARIUS A To Universal! Here Come The Black Hole Movies? Mar 14th 2013, 00:35 Beaks here... With Christopher Nolan taking on space and time and other lighthearted topics with his sci-fi epic INTERSTELLAR (inspired by the work of CalTech's Kip S. Thorne), I guess it's time for the competition to start rolling out their black hole movies. As long as they're done with a modicum of intelligence, bring 'em on! While I don't know for sure that SAGITTARIUS A, a "sci-fi thriller" that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci just sold to Universal, will be a "black hole movie" full stop, the fact that there is presumed to be a supermassive black hole powering the titular radio source (which is located at the center of the Milky Way) signals to me that the duo might be dealing with warped space and all that easy-to-understand stuff. Or maybe they're remaking EVENT HORIZON. SAGITTARIUS A was developed with screenwriter Steven Karczynski, who made the Black List in 2009 with his "global conspiracy thriller" THE UMBRA. I've never read it, but I'm told it has something of a sci-fi bent as well.
