Not since Willem Dafoe (Shadow of the Vampire) has a star been transformed into such a hideous vampire creature.
Check out some Cannes sales art, as well as a stack of new images from Jim Jarmusch’s crypto-vampire love story Only Lovers Left Alive, which stars Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt and Anton Yelchin. It’s Jarmusch’s first entry since Broken Flowers in 2005.
“Lovers” stars Hiddleston as Adam, an underground musician who’s deeply depressed by the direction of human activities. He reunites with his centuries-long lover, Eve (Swinton), though their idyll is soon interrupted by Eve’s wild and uncontrollable younger sister Ava (Wasikowska).
The below images have been shared via Indiewire, as the film premiered this past Saturday. One still teases how creepy Swinton gets in this dark tale. It’s exciting to see such a talent in a vampire movie. I’m beyond excited!
No word on a US release as of yet.
Here’s the official synopsis: “Set against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangier, an underground musician, deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover. Their love story has already endured several centuries at least, but their debauched idyll is soon disrupted by her wild and uncontrollable younger sister. Can these wise but fragile outsiders continue to survive as the modern world collapses around them?”
