Relativity Mercy Kills STRETCH ARMSTRONG
Oct 12th 2013, 23:03, by Brendan Bettinger

In 2012, Relativity optimistically announced an April 2014 release date for Stretch Armstrong even though Taylor Lautner dropped out of the project.  A few months later, Breck Eisner was hired to direct the toy feature.  That's the last we heard about the project for some time.  Relativity realizes they have stretched the Hasbro property beyond its limits—spilling the corn syrup gel inside all over development hell—and announced the are pulling the plug on Stretch Armstrong.  Here's Relativity's statement: "Stretch Armstrong is an incredible character who will make an amazing movie, and we know that Hasbro has some new ideas they are looking at.  Relativity and Hasbro have a tremendous relationship, and we decided to focus on other projects.  We look forward to continuing to work together." Perhaps some other ambitious studio will take on Stretch and fund a clever filmmaker with a 21 Jump Street-style approach to the material.  But in the current state, I am not sad to see Stretch fade.  You?
