Matt Johnson is the director, co-writer, co-editor and co-producer of The Dirties. That's a fair number of hats, to be sure, but in the world of micro-budget filmmaking this is more often than not the norm. What makes these roles even more interesting in Johnson's case is that he also stars in The Dirties as... Matt Johnson, a high schooler obsessed with movies. The Dirties is shot as a faux-documentary, chronicling Matt, and his friend Owen's (played by real life buddy Owen Williams) attempt at making a pastiche heavy revenge movie where they kill the gang of bullies at their school which they've dubbed 'The Dirties'.
