MTV has greenlit two comedies to series. “Happyland” and “Faking Out” have both received orders for eight episodes each, an MTV representative told TheWrap.
“Happyland” comes from the team of Neil Meron and Craig Zadan (NBC’s “Smash,” Lifetime’s “Bonnie & Clyde”) and their production company, Storyline Entertainment. It follows the misadventures at a popular theme park and its staff. Directed by Lee Toland Krieger, the pilot starred Bianca Santos, Zulay Henao, Shane Harper, Katherine McNamara, Cameron Moulene, Brandy Smith and Ryan Rothman.
“Faking It” was created and executive-produced by Carter Covington (“10 Things I Hate About You,” “Hart of Dixie,” “Greek”). The series features two best friends who really want to be popular in high school and do whatever it takes, including being something they’re not. The pilot starred Bailey Buntain, Gregg Sulkin, Katie Stevens, Michael Willett and Rita Volk.
More to come…
