Another old story is being reported as new over at Schmoes Know, who claim that Jonah Hill and Emma Stone – who starred together in the timeless comedy Superbad – have been offered the parts of Jeremy and Anna in Sony’s long-gestured Ghostbusters 3.
Both names have been mentioned, as well as other up-and-coming comedians such as Aziz Ansari, to play the newer, younger Ghostbusters who have been passed the torch by the original team (Peter, Egon, Ray, and Winston). The site says offers were officially made to Hill and Stone, although there’s no confirmation. If this were to be true, it would confirm reports from last July that surfaced about the studio’s interest in the duo.
The real news is that, if offers are actually going out, and being accepted, it would mean that there’s real movement – and that the targeted spring 2014 shoot would be in the cards.
Ivan Reitman is directing, as Bloody Disgusting first reported, with rumors having Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis, and Sigourney Weaver all potentially returning. Bill Murray is the wild card with previous reports stating that they’ll move “with or without him”. He can always be dead like Andrian in Rocky Balboa.
In Columbia Pictures’ third film, a ragtag group of paranormal researchers reopen their notorious ghost removal service, and a new generation of Ghostbusters is brought on board to be green slimed and trained to contain the mischievous spirits. We previously reported that the new ‘Busters will be lead by Dana and Peter’s lovechild, Oscar.
