He could be a former military man
Chris Pratt has long since proved he can do comedic (especially in sitcom Parks And Recreation) and dramatic (Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball) and is set to show off a combo with Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy next year. His career appears set for an even higher gear as he’s in talks to co-star in Jurassic World.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it’s still early days on a tentative deal and given that Josh Brolin flirted with the idea of the lead but never got past the initial discussions, we won’t count our Velociraptor eggs until they’re hatched in a lab that also doubles as an educational theme park attraction.
Yet the character details for the role Pratt is now considering do finally shed some more details on what we can expect from director Colin Trevorrow’s new expansion of the Jurassic universe. Pratt is up for the role for a rugged ex-military man, who spars with Bryce Dallas Howard’s corporate scientist. Confirmed young co-stars Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson are set as Howard’s nephews, who will, in the grand tradition of Jurassic Park youngsters, probably end up running from dinos.
We’d be happy to see Pratt dealing with dinosaurs, as he’s long since become a man who makes everything he appears in better. He’ll next be seen in Vince Vaughn comedy drama The Delivery Man (set to arrive January 10) and has a small but funny role in Spike Jonze’s romantic sci-fi drama Her (also landing January 10). He’s the heroic voice of Emmet in The Lego Movie (February 14) and then comes Star-Lord in Guardians, out August 1.
