Katniss and Prim hug it outAfter all that slaughter and haute couture in The Hunger Games - hey, wandering around on fire ain't easy, as Evil Knievel will testify - life doesn't get a whole lot more fun for Katniss Everdeen in the next instalment of the trilogy, Catching Fire.
This new still from the Panem promotional archives, showing a war-torn Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) consoling her sister Primrose (Willow Shields), is evidence that emotional trauma and physical violence are never too far from raising their ugly heads in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.{New Catching Fire Still}
When we left Prim at the reaping, she was spared a grim fate by her sister's intervention. In the second film she's implicitly under threat again, as Katniss returns to District 12 and the Capitol's harsh spotlight falls on their village.
Different characters - Prim lacks her big sis's doughty spirit but has talents as a healer - the two form the core of a tightly-knit family. Hurt the younger and the bow-and-arrowing older will probably make a pin cushion of your face.
Picking up in the aftermath of a successful, unprecedented games, Catching Fire mires Katniss and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) in the politics of The Capitol and the media horrorshow of President Snow's (Donald Sutherland) construction. The pair are forced onto a Victory Tour of the districts that's aimed at stilling whispers of rebellion as the 75th Annual Hunger Games, The Quarter Quell, are prepared. Needless to say, it doesn't have quite the desired effect.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire arrives in UK cinemas on November 22.
