Lindsay Lohan made a rare talk show appearance to promote her role in "Scary Movie 5" on "Late Show." However, David Letterman was more interested in talking about her off-screen antics -- specifically, her upcoming, court-mandated 90-day stint in rehab which kicks off May 2.
"I think this is an opportunity for me to focus on, you know, what I love in life," Lohan said. "And I don't think it's a bad thing."
She described rehab as a "blessing" and a chance to take time for herself.
"You grow up, and you mature. And I've said that a million times, I know that, but what else am I supposed to say when it's a process of life?" Lohan said.
Letterman applauded the star for taking responsibility for her past, and for having the "spine" and "poise" to come on his show, considering how many jokes he's made at her expense over the years. The kind words were enough to cause Lohan to tear up, which melted Letterman a little.
E! Online agreed, saying that it was nice to know that Lohan can still laugh at herself. But the New York Daily News felt the interview was awkward. They felt that Lohan seemed blindsided by questions she wasn't ready to answer.
