This writer was not a fan of The Wachowskis new age multi-threaded sci-fi tale "Cloud Atlas." However, one person who did impress among the A-list roster of stars was South Korean actress Bae Doona. Playing Sonmi-451 most prominently (and of course, a couple of other characters just like the rest of the cast) she was one of the few things that worked in the movie, with the futuristic portion of the film perhaps more affecting than anything else. But no matter what, The Wachowskis certainly liked working with her and are going to again.
Bae Doona has joined the currently in production "Jupiter Ascending," where she'll star alongside Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne and Sean Bean. The story follows Jupiter Jones (Kunis), destined for great things, but stuck cleaning toilets on an endless run of bad breaks. When Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down, Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along – her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
"My role in the movie is a very small one," she said to High Cut magazine. "Compared to 'Cloud Atlas,' I think this new movie will a lot easier and just an enjoyable SF movie."
So we'll just have to wait and see how she fits into The Wachowskis next futuristic world they put together. "Jupiter Ascending" opens on July 25, 2014. [Yahoo Philippines]
