Sweary Red-Band Trailer & Poster Arrive For James McAvoy-Starring Irvine Welsh Adaptation 'Filth'

After a few somewhat disappointing years after he came to fame, with only a few films, most of which were disappointing blockbusters ("Wanted," "X-Men First Class"), James McAvoy has had a stellar start to 2012. He's given strong performances in two thrillers we liked a lot, in "Welcome To The Punch" and "Trance," he toplined the starry radio version of Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere" alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, and he's won rave reviews, and an Olivier nomination, for his portrayal of Macbeth in London's West End. But could the best still be yet to come? The new trailer for "Filth," which just arrived over at HeyUGuys, suggests that might be the case. The film, which has mostly been under the radar so far, is an adaptation of "Trainspotting" author Irvine Welsh's novel, and stars McAvoy as a bigoted, corrupt cop, who has to solve a murder while he tries to win a promotion, but begins to lose his grip on sanity.
