EXCLUSIVE: Jeremy Sisto, David Walton, Amy Smart, Joshua Rush, and JK Simmons are starring in the indie comedy Break Point, which just kicked off production in Los Angeles with Jay Karas directing in his feature debut. The Broad Green Pictures pic was written by Gene Hong (Community) based on a story by Hong and Sisto. It centers on two estranged brothers (Sisto and Walton) who come together as doubles tennis partners to make a run at a grand slam tournament. Vincent Ventresca, Chris Parnell, Jenny Wade, Mo Collins, Jerry Minor, Kate Flannery and Cy Amundson co-star. Sisto, Gabriel Hammond and Devin Zimmerman are producing; Hong, Lauren McCarthy and Victor Moyers are co-producing. Daniel Hammond is executive producer.
Sisto currently stars on ABC’s Suburgatory, which the network renewed for a third season with plans to air it in midseason. Walton will star in NBC’s upcoming About A Boy, also set for midseason. Karas is moving onto the film side of things after honing his comedy chops with TV directing credits like E!’s After Lately (where he also was showrunner) and Comedy Central’s Workaholics and The Burn With Jeff Ross, as well as specials for the likes of Jim Gaffigan and DL Hughley.
Karas, Sisto, Walton, Simmons, Smart and Amundson are repped by Gersh. Karas is additionally managed by New Wave Entertainment. Hong is repped by WME.
