Indiewire Influencer Ava DuVernay is everywhere now, a year following her win for Best Director at Sundance last year for "Middle of Nowhere."
News broke this week that the filmmaker took over directing duties of "Selma," the Martin Luther King Jr. feature project that Lee Daniels was once attached to. Deadline reports that David Oyelowo ("The Paperboy"), who starred in "Middle of Nowhere," is still signed on to play the iconic activist. Making the deal even sweeter: DuVernay was brought on board the project by none other than Brad Pitt and his studio Plan B, along with Pathe UK and producer Christian Colson.
And just yesterday on Twitter, "Scandal" producer Merri D. Howard revealed that DuVernay will be directing an upcoming episode of the ABC series, starring Kerry Washington. The Tweet states that she's set to helm episode 8 of season three.
