'Blue Is the Warmest Color' Trailer Celebrates Love — and All the Awards It Has Received (Video)
Sep 19th 2013, 22:54, by Greg Gilman

Sundance Selects’ trailer for “Blue Is the Warmest Color” celebrates love, as well as the NC-17 film’s international recognition on the festival circuit — especially the Palme d’Or prize it picked up at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Since the film is foreign-made, Sundance is marketing the movie mostly with the high praise it has received from industry heavyweights like Steven Spielberg, while showing dialogue free clips that pack plenty of emotional highs and lows.

Director Abdellatif Kechiche's sexually explicit coming-of-age story follows two French teenage girls, played by Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos, as they enter a lesbian relationship.

Before being crowned the best of the fest at Cannes this year, “Blue” gained lots of attention for a 10-minute sex scene between the two actresses, which apparently pushed Seydoux past her comfort zone during the shoot.

"He was making a movie about passion, so he wanted to have sex scenes, but without choreography — more like special sex scenes," Seydoux told the Daily Beast earlier this month. "But once we were on the shoot, I realized that he really wanted us to give him everything. Most people don't even dare to ask the things that he did, and they're more respectful — you get reassured during sex scenes, and they're choreographed, which desexualizes the act."

The comment quickly came back to haunt her at at Los Angeles press conference where she broke down in tears during a spat with the director over the difficult shoot.

“Blue Is the Warmest Color” lands in theaters on Oct. 25.
