Twentieth Century Fox has hired former NBCUniversal COO Salil Mehta to the newly created position of president of content management, overseeing digital media and global TV distribution.
Mehta begins Monday and will report to 20th Century Fox Film CEO Jim Gianopulos. He will coordinate content distribution across all platforms and oversee planning and business development.
He'll also lead the company's involvement in industry-wide coordination of technical standards, including content protection and security.
"Salil possesses the perfect mix of problem solving skills, leadership proficiency, technological savvy, and collaborative expertise to play a critical role in guiding our content through the multi-faceted media world we operate in today," Gianopulos said in a statement.
At NBCUniversal, he most recently served as COO and CFO of the company's Entertainment & Digital Networks and Integrated Media division, which included cable networks Bravo, Oxygen and Style; broadcast network Telemundo; and NBCUniversal's digital assets, including Fandango and Daily Candy.
Before NBCUniversal, Mehta spent three years as EVP of ESPN Enterprises, where he managed the sports network's non-broadcasting businesses, including new media, mobile, publishing, interactive and consumer products licensing.
