Watch: New Trailer For David O. Russell's 'American Hustle' Struts Its Stuff
Oct 9th 2013, 22:51, by Kevin Jagernauth

Without any festival appearance or advance screenings for press, David O. Russell's "American Hustle" remains the biggest, most exciting mystery of the fall movie season. Awards player or chewy piece of entertainment? Maybe it's both?

We'll soon find out, and a brand new trailer has landed today with an even grander look at the picture. You already know that this one is inspired by a true story, features a killer leading ensemble featuring Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence, and centers on a financial con artist (Bale) and his mistress/partner in crime (Adams) who are forced to work with an out of control federal agent (Cooper) to turn the tables on other con artists, mobsters and politicians. But what is this actually like?

Take it with a pinch of salt but a reader report over at AICN from a recent test screening says, "the film's resemblance to 'Boogie Nights' goes beyond the '70s backdrop and soundtrack; the story starts off light and poppy, making you feel the excitement of their swindles, but when the stakes get higher and higher, the darkness and tension starts to get thick enough to cut through with a knife" while also adding "this very well may be David O. Russell's masterpiece."  Again, be wary of hyperbole.

Either way, we'll find out when this opens on Christmas Day. Watch below.
