'Temple Run' Movie In the Works From 'Harry Potter' Producer, WB
Nov 13th 2013, 01:17, by Jeff Sneider

Warner Bros. is nearing a deal to acquire movie rights to the popular game “Temple Run,” an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

David Heyman (“Gravity”) will produce the adventure film through his Heyday Films banner, while Lynn Harris will oversee the project for the studio.

“Temple Run” follows an explorer who is chased by demonic forces after stealing an idol from a temple. The game doesn’t exactly feature a rich mythology for a screenwriter to explore, but if there’s anyone who can pull off an adaptation it’s Heyman, who produced the hit “Harry Potter” franchise for Warners.

It may be disheartening to see Heyman cue up a “Temple Run” movie while the brainy blockbuster “Gravity” continues to attract audiences in droves, but if gaming adaptations will allow WB to make more sci-fi spectacles, then so be it.

Warner Bros. will soon hire a writer to concoct a story out of a fairly threadbare game.

Imangi Studios debuted “Temple Run” in 2011 and since then, it has become a bestselling app on mobile devices. The game has spawned a sequel and several spinoffs.
