Gary Oldman Added to 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' Feb 28th 2013, 23:33 Briefly: The cast of Matt Reeves‘ Dawn of the Planet of the Apes just got some extra integrity. Gary Oldman has signed on to play “the leader of a human colony.” Oldman will work alongside the returning Andy Serkis, playing Caesar, and newcomers Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee. We don’t know too much about the story, but do know that it is set fifteen years after the end of rise of the Planet of the Apes, and picks up after most of humanity has been wiped off the earth, leaving evolved primates as the dominant species. One prong of the plot will feature a group of San Francisco scientists who form a resistance (that may be where Oldman fits in, and is likely how Clarke figures in as well) while another follows Caesar as he tries to retain control over the primate faction.
