Pulled together in just over a week, Wednesday night saw NBC broadcasting the Healing In The Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert (1.9/6) for victims of the tornado that hit Oklahoma. Headlined by Voice judge and Oklahoma native Blake Shelton, the one hour live show for the United Way at Oklahoma City's 14,000-capacity Chesapeake Energy Arena saw performances not just from Shelton and fellow The Voice judge Usher but also Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic. Jimmy Fallon, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Alicia Keys appeared via video. Running from 9 PM to 10 PM, Healing In The Heartland was watched by 8.6 million viewers on NBC last night. That made it the most watched show of the night and the most watched show in the time slot since November 7. 2012. The special concert, which played where a Law & Order: SVU encore had been previously scheduled, also aired on Style, CMT, G4, Bravo, E! and Palladia either live or delayed. Before the concert, NBC aired a new Dateline (1.6/5). Up 14% over last week's show, the news magazine hit a Wednesday season high last night. Fox was No. 1 among Adults 18-49 while NBC won the night in terms of total viewers.

On other networks there was a lot cooking last night. CBS had the premiere of The American Baking Competition (1.0/3) at 8 PM. Hosted by Jeff Foxworthy and based on the UK's The Great British Bake Off, the self explanatory titled show, Competition was down 23% from the May 30 debut of Dogs In The City. The new show was watched by 5.21 million viewers on Wednesday. Over on Fox, things were a bit hotter on week two of the fourth season of Masterchef (2.2/7). The highest rated show of the night, the two-hour Gordon Ramsay-led show was even with its season debut of last week.

Wednesday also saw the long awaited new primetime debut of Nightline, now named The Lookout (1.1/3) on ABC at 10 PM. Watched by 4.07 million viewers, the hour long self styled "survival guide to the modern consumer jungle" took on infomercial kings among others in its premiere. It also took on the ratings with a 10% rise over the debut of Final Witness on June 27, 2012. Otherwise the only originals on ABC last night were now cancelled freshman comedies Family Tools (1.0/3) and How To Live With Your Parents (For The Rest Of Your Life) (1.3/4). The former was down 17% from its last original on May 15 to hit a new season low. The latter was down too but with more of a thud. How To Live With Your Parent fell 38% from its May 22 show to also hit a new season low.
