Over 40 New 'Man Of Steel' Images; Zack Snyder Suggests A Superman Sequel Must Arrive Before 'Justice League' Can Happen
Jun 1st 2013, 15:21

"I get my evil from Satan. I drink it. It hurts. But then I take some Pepto and the pain goes away," Michael Shannon joked yesterday in typically mischievous fashion regarding his villain character Zod at the "Man Of Steel" press conference in Los Angeles. Yep, Zack Snyder's Superman movie is only 14 days away, press in L.A. have seen it (including us) and reviews should be hitting closer to release. More from the press conference soon, but more immediately Warner Bros. has released 47 "new" images from the movie, some of them that you've already seen in lo-rez fashion and some that you haven't seen before, period (about 15 of them are here, another 20 here).

But the pressing matter everyone wants to find the answer to right now: What's next a sequel or a "Justice League" movie? Crave Online spoke to Henry Cavill after the press conference and while he's game, he doesn't seem to know what's going on. "Of course I'm open to it, very much open to it, but I have no idea what plans are for that," Cavill said. "I'm not privy to that kind of information. I think it would be a lot of fun to explore the character further and a continuing journey, but I know nothing about those plans so far."

Cavill admits that he and Snyder and others have spoken about it, but not in an official capacity at all. "Everyone's talking about if Justice League will happen. None of it has ever been official speak. It's always been 'what if,' and if we were to do, 'how would we do it?' It's always just been brainstorming and fun ideas as opposed to genuine thoughts."

Meanwhile, Collider sat down with Director Zack Snyder yesterday and when asked about a Justice League movie, "The Watchmen" filmmaker suggested a "Man Of Steel" sequel may need to happen first to further establish the hero before he joins a group. Asked what he would do if he were offered the "Justice League" movie (rumored for 2015, but that this point probably delayed), Snyder said, "I feel like you need to get Superman a little further down the road before you can do a Justice League movie." Does that mean sequel first? Snyder essentially repeated himself. "I don't know. All I'm saying is that you've got to get Superman further down the road." OK then. Well, you can't get further down the road without another movie without another movie. Then again, Snyder's ideas aren't necessarily Warner Bros. who would probably like nothing more than to have Christopher Nolan devise and direct their "Justice League" movie, but he doesn't seem to be interested.  The rumor earlier this year was that Will Beall's "Justice League" script was discarded by WB and if that's the case (note, no one's debunked the rumor yet) they're probably starting from scratch and 2015 may be tough to hit if they don't have a real plan in place.

But there is something in "Man Of Steel" that points to the future. And so a little warning: at the very bottom of this article on page 2, we'll reveal what that easter egg is. "Man of Steel" opens June 14. New photos below.

So what's this Easter Egg fuss all about? Well, Snyder revealed to Collider that, "The Wayne Enterprises logo is on a satellite that Zod destroys." While exciting, what does it mean? At the moment, probably not a lot other than a quick little nod to fans that reminds them that Batman and Superman live within the same universe. And don't forget, the Lexcorp logo was also revealed in some of the early trailers. When asked about "Man Of Steel 2," Snyder says, "I don't know. Everything is interesting at this point. And don't forget that Lex is out there, doing who knows what…"
