EXCLUSIVE: Mythology Entertainment, the growing production company run by Brad Fischer, Laeta Kalogridis and James Vanderbilt, has hired Jon Silk to the post of executive vice president of Production and Development. He will help the two-year old company handle a growing volume of film, TV and theater projects, and he will hunt for more properties to develop. Silk comes there from Lin Pictures, where he was senior vice president of Production and co-produced Gangster Squad. He was a former director of Development at Benderspink and started as an assistant to producer Scott Rudin.

“Jon is an extraordinarily talented executive whose experience, relationships and taste we have long admired,” said the Mythology founders. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the Mythology team and look forward to working together with him as we continue to build our slate and company.”

Mythology most recently produced the Roland Emmerich-directed White House Down for Sony, and among other projects, is developing The Shining prequel The Overlook Hotel, scripted by Glen Mazzara; the S. Craig Zahler Black List script The Brigands Of Rattleborge, with Chan-wook Park attached to direct; The Nazi And The Psychiatrist, the true story between American psychiatrist Dr. Douglas M. Kelley and Hermann Goering in the months leading up to the Nuremberg Trials, is being developed for both film and stage; and a feature adaptation of Altered Carbon is being scripted by Kalogridis and David H. Goodman. They’ve also got TV projects at HBO and Showtime.

Silk will remain exec producer on the Lin Pictures projects The Lost Legion, the Kurt Johnstad-scripted drama based on the first encounter between the Roman Empire and China’s Han Dynasty; the Korean gangster film remake New World  with scribe Will Fetters at Sony; and the Cary Fukunaga-directed adaptation of Stephen King’s It for Warner Bros.
